No Windows, No Bios, No compute :( [Solved]

Well, not even sure what is going on. My computer will not boot the BIOS (yes, BIOS, not UEFI - that's how oldskool it is), and therefore will not even boot Windows.

It just sits on the "Lenovo" screen, but I can't enter the BIOS or really do anything. So I'm not sure what is going on.

This occured this morning after last night my computer hung on the shut down screen, so I just forced it to turn off. After finding that the BIOS won't load up, I decided maybe to reset it so I pulled the button cell battery out (waited about 30 seconds) and put it back in, and still no go.

So I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. Your help is much appreciated!

EDIT

So after leaving it on the Lenovo screen for quite some time, I found that it went into some sort of proprietary Lenovo recovery software. I just told it to restart in hopes now that it booted to that that if I reboot it everything would be fixed, but, no. I do not believe I have a system back up I could restore, so I may be screwed in that area.

Specs please

Lenovo OEM Mobo

Intel i7 Sandy Bridge @ 3.4Ghz

16gb Ram

GTX560ti

Win7 64x

560w PSU

...uh, I think that's everything.

Data recovery:

if all else fails and you just want your hard disk data back you can take the hard disk and plug it into another computer as an external HDD. you should be able to view the folders/data. If that doesn't work, try it on a linux or mac.

Hopefully you'll find a way to get your system up an running again.

Thanks, this has been an ongoing effort throughout the day and narrowed down the possibilities.

As for recovery, it might be too late, as I brought the system back into the Lenovo recovery mode and told it factory restore itself - which sadly didn't fix the problem. So...I lost all that data, there was only one thing I can think of that I hadn't made a back up of as of recently so that's upsetting, but all the rest of my important stuff is backed up on an external drive as well as BluRay discs.

Prior to entering the Lenovo Recovery Mode, my computer flashes a screen telling me where it's booting from - this is where I can tell it at least recognizes my HDD, as it is listed in the boot list. At the bottom of this list I also noticed it says "error with CMOS battery". Logic tells me this is refering to the button cell battery on the MoBo. I am hoping replacing this will correct whatever is going on.

If not, guess I'm in the market for some new hardware. I'm guessing MoBo, which probably means I should upgrade my CPU too...

Aside from that, the only other thing it displays (after exiting from the Lenovo recovery) is that it will bring me to the "Lenovo" start screen, then quickly go to a screen asking I select a bootable device in the BIOS, or insert bootable media. Well I can't enter the BIOS. I keep pushing all the f-keys, but it does nothing. When on the "bootable device..." screen, I can see my keyboard work, because when I push any key it repeats the message.

I don't have a Windows disc on hand, so I don't know if reinstalling Windows would fix it, but considering I ran the recovery mode and it still will not boot, I don't think it's windows. But then again, I'm not a professional at this.

I got it resolved.

Thank you so much for responding!

cool. glad it worked out for you.
