No Windows 8 for Me

Since windows 8 sucks so bad I have decided to completely switch to a Linux operating system on my laptop, I will be keeping my desktop Windows 7 for now for my games but I don't want to if I can help it. I have had a bit of experience with Ubuntu and with steam now working with Linux systems I am more ready to switch over but I have two questions.

1.What would be the best option Linux OS option for an everyday guy like me that spends a lot of time on the web, doing small hacking projects and having a few fun new adventures with Linux.

2. I am a graphic designer and NEED my Photoshop and Illustrator and want to know what would be the best option of running or emulating that on a Linux system as well as a few other windows programs (it would be cool if I could run Mac programs as well like Garage Band).

Side note: I NEED a muti screen setup for all my mutitasking.

Any help, suggestions or fun ideas I could try when it’s up would be awesome.

idealy qain would answer this, as i am still a bit new to linux.

i always sugest mint linux for people who are new to the os. however i have heard good things about crunch bang, however i never tried it myself.

you can use wine to emulate windows programs, not sure about mac programs though. there is also gimp if you dont want to emulate, i prefer it to photoshop myself.

multi screening is easy, just plug in your 2nd screen and you are good to go. you might need the propriatary drivers. be warned though.... multi screen support is..... not as good as windows.

Logan would say Zorin, altho i think Ubuntu 12.04 is better, but thats me, you can purchase Crossover which is a very good windows emulator for all Ubuntu/Mac distros, PlayonLinux is also good.

Also i agree with ztrain with Gimp, a friend of mine who is a basic yet good graphic designer uses it on his windows PC over photoshop mainly cause its free, but he has experience with both and prefers it.

Also do some research on Linux before using it, http://teksyndicate.com/forum/linux/tips-software-ubuntu/123057 i asked that question a few week back so there is already some good stuff there :)

I useto like Gimp better but since CS6 came out I prefer it over Gimp, I can do more in it.
