After putting in a new graphics card and putting in the moniter cable there was no response from the graphics card, i then went into bios to change it to the pciex slot for where the vga got its signal from. Then i booted up my computer and then in device manager the catagory display adaptor was gone. And also there was a sign with an exclamation point in it in one of the slots in the computer. If there is anything else you should know tell me. and if you can please tell me how to fix this.
Please tell us what the problem is to start with
not enough info
we need to know what card
what kind of computer
etc...
there is too little info to determine anything
Did you install drivers?
We need more info.
The problem is that its not getting auto detected so i cant install the drivers and it wont work, also i have a m2a-vm hdmi motherboard from asus with an onboard ati radeon x1200 and the graphics card i got is an ati radeon xfx 4350 .
Ummm, BIOS, turn the integrated graphics card off somehow.
Also, enter safe mode and install the drivers.
The integrated graphics should automatically turn off, but like GreenSLI said, try going into the Bios and disabling integrated graphics. But just making sure, the fan on the card spins up when you turn the computer on right? If not, your card may just be a DoA.
If i turn it off in device manager will that do anything?
Actually, no. Just do it in the bios
In my bios theres a thing where it lets you choose what you want your moniter to pic up on its pci pciex and onboard vga, is this where i should turn it onto my new graphics card, the install the drivers in safe mode?
You need to write more clearly, I can't work anything out from what you just wrote. No offense..
Ok nvm, I got it now. yes switch it to the pciex, then go to safe mode and install the new right drivers
Ok thanks ill try that now and see if it works.
I did that and it didn't work. It says no xfx hardware is getting detected, so basically my computer isn't detecting the graphics card. how can i fix it?
Did you plug in the 6 pin power?
there wasn't any extra pins and there was no slot, its just a 300 watt minimum requirement so yeah, i didnt need any extra power from the supply, it all came from the motherboard,
do you have another computer or card
the pci e slot might be dead...
if you are not getting any auto detect nothing then it sounds like something is dead
either the
card
pci e slot
the dvi ports on the card
something sounds wrong
becuase you dont need to install drivers and the onboard will turn off automatically after putting in the card
Are you sure the card is properly in the pci ex ?
yeah there proably is a problem with the pciex slot. but before i had another graphics card from an older computer in it and it wasnt working(it was getting detected but it was messing up in the middle of a game or somthing). So would a new motherboard be a good idea to get or would it be just some type of problem on the motherboard?
if it messed up during game, it could be heat... Hmmm
Yeah it came from my old computer that randomly just crashed and wouldnt start up. But that was in for one day. The graphics card is fine since its new, so the problem is the motherboard or the power supply i guess, but i dont think it is. From what you guys are saying i think the pcix slot is screwed. I think im just going to get a motherboard out of one of my other computers or save up for another motherboard or power supply.
