Okay, so Linux is great. So much possibility, and I guess freedom too, if you're into that kind of thing. Windows is great too. It's familiar for most and widely supported. Mac is great as well. It does what it's supposed to do and has an really annoying fanclub. But it's really shameful that people treat any operating system as if it's trash, or a jail. These systems are made for a target market. The people who are using a computer are free to use whatever they want to suit their needs. Just because Mac is a closed platform, doesn't mean it's bad. The people who use it and buy into it are getting what they pay for. The same with Windows. They each serve the purpose of being used. Just because there are variances in the way they operate and the way they can be used, doesn't mean they aren't good for whoever is using them. People choose what they want to use because they are familiar with it, or it is easy, or even because they just plain don't care. Free software activism is great until senseless people on the internet begin trash talking and putting down other softwares or their users and companies. People aren't focusing on what is right. The development of technology and the good it can be used for is what we should all be fighting for. Not these petty arguments about Linux being better than Windows or Mac, or Windows being better than Mac or Linux, or Mac being better than Windows or Linux. They all serve the user just fine. If the user is unsatisfied, they have other options. Like I said earlier, people get what they pay for (or don't pay for... Linux 😉 )
Modern operating systems all can do what the competition can do, so its not an objective argument between them anymore. Its a subjective, "which one do I prefer?" situation.
Exactly. It's all personal preference at this point.
That's debatable...
But putting aside my deep hatred for Apple i do see your point and I agree for the most part.
This statement is great. Unfortunately, too many people are unaware of the other options. And in a few cases people don't have other options... yes they have other options on their own computers, but what they use at work is limited.
dos
I'm not an Apple fan myself, honestly. But from the perspective of someone who uses Mac as their driver, it, for the most part, satisfies their needs. I do wish alternatives were much easier for unknowing users to use, or at least learn about.
Do people enjoy starting shitstorms?
This is like the third thread I've seen like this in a while.
Shitstorms are the best kind of storms. Monsoon season approaches.
Eh, I sometimes do that in TF2 for teh lulz, too bad for that freaking update that people claimed ruin TF2. Ah, but who am I kidding, according to these guys here, it isn't Valve's fault, it was my fault (to be fair, I still play the game, but it really is lame what they pulled).
We've been over these topics before, infact this one could be a duplicate. They lead almost no where and we have a backlog of opinions if you search but dont bump past threads. (im locking this one for this reason as it hasn't gotten big yet)
Otherwise I'll just leave this here....
