I did the latest updates few days ago and since then no game is working in Steam.
All of them have the same behavior, they start, Steam says “Running”, but there is no window of the game and nothing in the task bar. CS:GO, opens a black window but closes itself after few seconds.
Also, I tried to install few new ones, and the ones with Proton layer enabled, do not finish installation.
Looks like there is a window/prompt somewhere (not visible) that I cannot click…(?)
Also, Steam icon in the notifications area, sometimes is very unresponsive. I am right clicking on it to quit and the menu takes 15-20 seconds to appear. Even after selecting “quit”, Steam doesn’t close.
Any suggestions?

If you launch steam from a console do you have some error/warning message?

I don’t have any error/message at all. Games just open and close.
This is what is written in the journal from when I start the game, until it crashes back to Steam

Did you try booting into an older kernel?
I had something similar happen, which turned out to be a very weird kernel version related bug that was fixed already in the release days later.
Did the library location get reset? [*If working off a separate drive]
5.7 & 5.8 do not boot, there is an error regarding missing partition (never changed anything there)
5.9 (current) and 5.10 (installed) both have the same issue.
So, I found out the problem for CS:GO at least. I had to use “-nojoy” in the launch parameters.
No, I have to see why others don’t work
