No display

I'm using the Asus m5a97 r2 le mobo and the radeon 7870 gfx. When I plug the dvi cable into the gfx and into the monitor I get no display.

1. Try a different port.

2. Double check that all the cables inside the pc are plugged in correctly.

3. If the above don't fix the problem. try using a different monitor and/or the video card in a different PC.

Turns out the gfx isn't spinning/ on. How can I fix this?

make sure the dvi cable is in all the way make sure the graphics card is in all the way and in the first pci e slot nearest to the cpu and make sure your monitor input is on the dvi input.  Also make sure your pci e power connectors are in.

pci e connectors. The ones in the video card? on the ones into the mobo?

Yes you need to plug in both PCI-E power cables. with out them the video card wont get the power neaded and will not run. that's what is causing the blank screen.

Oh and the CPU power connector is at the top left edge, its a 8 pin one. If the power supply has a 4 pin CPU connector you can still plug it in.

Do I plug in the gfx on the blue slot or black one?

The bottom left one in this pic?

Do I need a VGA dvi cable?

The first pci slot aka the blue one long one and just a dvi cable that comes with the monitor

I got it in there and I'm using a dvi cable with two dvi ends. I plug one into the monitor and one to the gfx card but no display :(

If your card fans are not spinning on make sure both the 6/8-pin power connectors from your psu are pluged into to your video card correctly refer to your video card manual to see where they are if you have no clue.

Ok wait, lemme update this. I got the power and everything to work. just getting no display when I use the dvi cables

my dvi cable has two arrows pointing to the right. does that mean anything?

The connector in the red box is the CPU power.
