Hello, I am looking into the parts needed to build a high-quality Ninja Trader 8 server. From what I have looked into so far, servers can be incredibly complex. This server is going to house the application known as Ninja Trader 8 (NT8). Similar to how chrome tabs operate, NT8 will run off multiple cores and uses A LOT of ram. with that in mind I’m trying to build something with the following criteria:
-Windows 2019 server OS Ran on an SSD for speed
-ECC registered memory so pricing data coming in is not at risk of bit flips
-A Xeon processor with as many cores as possible (more cores → more charts)
-Raid 10 (much faster than 5,6 and safer than 0,1)
-backup PSU in case of an outage
Does anyone have any ideas or have a blueprint for something like this? scoured the web for months and gone nowhere.
That may be an option in the future. This is a startup for the time being so I’m trying to keep everything a bit lower in cost just in case things don’t work out.
Yes, its an algorithm I have spent YEARS developing. has everything from orderflow to pattern recognition. Gtrades .IO will be the site where I host everything (right now I just have a temporary landing page on that site)
You can maybe get away with a 5950X with unbuffered ECC
Only the 5800X with V cache has been announced so far so idk if they’ll make one with the 5950x or not
If you need more than 128GB of ram then it’ll have to be an epyc or threadripper/pro
Threadripper supports 256GB
Thread ripper pro supports 2TB
Epyc supports 4TB
MB: AsRock Rack EPYCD8-2T ATX
CPU: epyc 7282 16c 32s 1200$ or a 7D12 doubles cores and threads for an extra 500$
RAM: ECC REG DDR4 (just load it up with whatever fits in your budget.
NVME: 2tb? again buy for budget.
GPU: something quad port with some power for multi screens. W6600 arent outrageously priced. but get what you need here.
@TheSkuffedKnerd i am assuming he is either wanting to host it for multiple people, or wanting to display live charting on multiple pairs at one time. but you know how assuming goes…
I’d be running hundreds of charts at once, order flow is very resource-intensive, and no nothing like what I am doing right now has ever been done before
Corsair, Fractal design, Phanteks, NZXT, Lian Li, all make good cases, find one you like. that MB is just ATX so it will fit in any ATX case, get one with the features and design you want.
if you are in the states, SHI, CDWG, Newegg business, Amazon, even ebay if necessary. with the electronics and shipping issues going on everywhere, you will have to hunt around and mace accommodations as needed to get a complete PC built.
