NIc won't work after GPU install Optiplex 3050 SFF

I’m trying to run a 3x Optiplex 3050 SFFs with Proxmox 8

They all have:

CPU: i7-7700
RAM: 24 GB DDR4
Storage: 512 GB ACER NVME
Storage 2: 256 GB Samsung SATA
PSU: 180W BRONZE OEM

They all worked fine with a few weeks of uptime running PopOS and Ubuntu VMs.

I Purchased a Swift RX6400 LP to try and do PCI passthrough to a VM. But I’m having issues. It boots and it sees it, but the built in NIC doesn’t work. I thought it just inconveniently burnt out, but I swapped it with another known good Optiplex 3050 and the problem persisted.

I think I might be out of PCIe bandwith. I don’t really want to swap out my 512 GB nvme boot drive. I was trying to see if I could change the gen from 3 to 2 on either my x16 slot or my M.2 slot but that doesn’t seem to pop up in bios.

Kinda stumped on what to do next or if I need to abandon this now. My next thoughts are to try getting a USB to ethernet adapter and a 1x NIC to try in case it’s just the on board NICs being bad. Any advice is appreciated.

Swapped out the NVME for a SATA drive with PopOS and the NIC and GPU works no issue.

Really annoyed it seems I’ll need to buy more SATA SSDs when I thought the NVMEs were a “Buy once cry once” solution.

It could be a limitation of the motherboard/chipset, I have an 8th Gen Precision 3430 that’s fully populated with an RX6400, Wifi/BT card, Optane NVME boot, and two MX500s plus the ODD for SATA.
