So, back when I upgraded my PC I got an NH-D14. Love the cooler, but when I got it I hadn't thought about lanparties, as I hadn't really ever gone to one. I was curious about people's thoughts for transporting a 600T with an NH-D14 and ACX cooled GTX770(not in first slot so some inch or so of space between it and the NH-D14). I know from putting it together that the mounting hardware is nice, I'm more worried about any wiggling it might do on a ride over(obviously laying on its side).
So should I risk it? Has anyone else with one taken it to a lanparty?
I think the shear weight of the thing, and it's mounting mechanism will be enough to stop it significantly wiggling. When the case is on its side, the motherboard has a lot less stress applied to it.
I got 2 NH-U12P SE and its great only problem is i think i warped my board from previous processor overclocking. now they dont work need to upgrade to h100i lol. but both the NH-U12P SE and NH-D14 are great for air cooling the fans alone are worth every cent.
Yeah, that's the thing I was worried about, so I ended up staying home and just playing some online with them. It does make me wish I had picked some sort of AIO instead.
Well, keep in mind that with large GPUs, you're supposed to transport your case a certain way as well. (So that the case has the card upright and vertical.) Not only are GPUs awkward bulky things, but they often get to weigh two pounds or over.
Yeah, had I transported it with the heatsink on...or heck at all, I would have laid it on its side. So unless I took that the wrong way, the card would likely not have a problem.
