I was catching up on The Tek videos since I'm new to the community here and I find they talk a lot about patents and patent trolls. One specific thing that I remember was in The Tek 87 when they talked about the organic shoes and made an off hand joke about patents on bio related stuff.
This reminded me of this really awesome book I remember reading by Michael Crichton called Next in which the book explores the idea of specific genes being patented and owned by various universities via research. It's been a really long time since I've read it but I remember it being really good and this is coming from someone who doesn't sit down and read all too much.
For those who have read it let me know what you thought and any other books that have similar themes you recommend.
