Can you kindly ask Qain to please do a brief segment on controlling unwanted traffic on a router?
I just want to know how I can prevent any unwanted traffic from Google and other possible nuisances which cannot be seen. I can't figure out if it's something within my operating system or what. I get it no matter what I do -- use pre-built Linux Distributions, Mac OS X, or Windows -- I always see traffic going to and from one or two of Google's IP's without ANYTHING running or installed from Google at all!
Any useful information would be much appreciated, and I am sure everyone could benefit from this.
I was not expecting any application specific solutions; however, I am using TomatoUSB on an Asus RT-N16 with OpenDNSif that helps at all!
I thought that it was kind enough of Mr. Zuckerberg to allow blocking Facebook's URL within something like OpenDNS in order to prevent any popups or other annoyances like tracking and affiliate web spam.
I still can't figure out how to block Google, and Qain did briefly mention doing it himself. Also, don't hold back. You're not going to overwhelm me at all. ;D
