I just built a pc and it keeps losing my usb mouse or keyboard, some time i manage to keep the mouse signal intact but when i try to install windows using usb it keeps saying that it doesn't see any usb, some time i go all the way expanding windows files, one of the step to install OS then it loses signal everything is gone, and my hdd has partial file for all those half way installation, please help!
Are you using wireless peripherals? If wireless, did you check the batteries?
Try using a PS/2 keyboard and Mouse to either get through the install or get a different ISO of windows.
I'm no PC expert though, learn as I go but that's where I'd start.
Sometimes motherboards will have similar problems with installing Linux but I haven't heard of it happening on windows. Maybe try checking the connectors are good if your using case usbs and if thats not the case try installing from a dvd. Also check that all your usb and motherboard drivers are installed before windows. That helps things along.
I don't have a DVD in my rig, should i buy one? I mean I am really sad that all that money that i spent and even if i get a DVD rom what are the chances it will work?
I am using wired USB and even if I use ps/2 keyboard and mouse, I still have to use the flash drive for Win 7 installation, Motherboard problem? Any other ideas you think might work?
There are no guarantees it will work if you use a dvd drive although it should. Really it should work from usb although drivers can be weird before everything is installed. Ps2 should work if usb mice and keyboards aren't as they connect more directly to the cpu.
You should be able to find an external DVD RW for maybe $15. Just try to find out what the problem is, hopefully it's not a faulty board. Usually windows has USB drivers in the program so that you can use your usb peripherals to navigate the software and so that you can use a usb stick to install from. Sometimes your bios can get in the way as well, have had that happen as well.
I would try using another keyboard and mouse too, if you have a spare.
So my best bet would be to buy and install a dvd rom and also buy a win 7 disc?
So, basically get a DVD ROM as well as actual win 7 disc? or just get a dvd rom and update the BIOS, can I update BIOS without any OS? (sorry, if I'm bothering you)
You can update the bios through USB on most modern boards, you'd have to consult the manual that came with it and/or google to see how it's done. i had a similar problem to this before where I wasn't able to use the "F buttons" on my keyboard with no OS installed, so I just used my older keyboard and it worked fine until the install was complete. You still never answered if your keyboard and mouse are wired or wireless...are they? If they are wireless, sometimes you need the drivers installed for them to work properly, that's why I suggest a wired keyboard and mouse. It also might matter if you are plugging them in on the front panel USB or the back I/O panel. They should be plugged in on the back.
They wired USB 2.0, I connected them on the back that leads straight to the mobo
Ok, the only other things I can think of is that you can check the bios for any settings that might affect your keyboard and mouse. Like enabling and disabling PS/2 function and to enable your usb ports or something like that. Definitely sounds like an easy fix, just not sure what it is without sitting in front of it.
Did you try a different keyboard and mouse?
My other suggestion is to try another version of Windows, sometimes people make mistakes when compressing iso's then making a bootable ISO. I'm thinking the one your using maybe doesn't have the drivers correct drivers for your usb hub/bus for your new mobo. Go online and get another Windows iso and try installing it. Google is your friend.
Sorry I couldn't help more....
