Newbie in need of help. SSD and HDD combo

So, I've recently acquired the parts to build my own pc, for the first time. Now, I'm a total newbie to all this PC building stuff, so basically, i have very little knowledge of what I'm actually doing.

I set up my SSD as the boot disk (c:), My HDD didn't appear at first on the computer (it did appear in the BIOS)

So, I followed some guides and whatnot to format/partition (whatever its called) the HDD. (this is what i did: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ss/format-hard-drive-windows-7-tutorial_13.htm )

Now it has magically shown up. But now I have 2 questions.

#1: Is thats everything i have to do?

#2: If it is everything i have to do. Is there a way to make new downloads automatically go to the HDD? I'm not planning on filling up my SSD with stuff. And everything i've downloaded after the format/partition just goes automatically to the SSD. So, is there a way to make all new downloads go automatically to the new HDD drive, or do i have to download everything to the SSD first, then move the stuff over?

I'm sorry if these questions seem silly, but as i mentioned, I'm a newbie to this whole scene, and I would appreciate any help.

Once your hard drive is detected that's all you have to do.

For the downloads thing, you need to tell your browser, steam, and anything else that will download information to go to the hard drive. That can easily be done by going into the program's setting, finding the downloads section, and setting the download location to the HDD instead of the SSD.

Sweet, thanks.

Apparently I always seem to think that things are much more complicated then what they actually are.

Appreciate the help.

you can also move most applications that don't give an option of install location during installation manually from /application files and/or application files x86 manually to the other drive

don't take that 100% though as some may not function correctly on anything but the C drive
