New Xeon Workstation for $1000 without memory, hard drives and case

Hi forums,
I built myself a new Ryzen rig few days ago but it failed completely and I refunded it. I am a high school student and I am gonna need this build for virtualization, CAD, gaming, video editing, audio editing and photoshop. I am planning only to have Gaming VM on Windows 7 and rest on Linux.

Why did Ryzen fail?

2 full days to make it POST cause it wasn’t posting then after BIOS update and installation of Red Hat Enterprise Workstation 7.4 it kept crashing. I even tried CentOS and Ubuntu

Well just keep in mind those Xeon are low core clock so gaming on it and that 550 card not gonna be the greatest.
Can you elaborate on what you will be using under virtualization?

This might be right up your alley. A used Dell R420 Tower server. You can swap out the dual 6core CPUs and replace it with your own. Already fitted with 96GB RAM, and 8 drive bays for your data horde. The memory alone is almost worth the cost.

If you saw the Gaming VM GPU is gonna RX 580 8 GB and RX 550 is gonna be for host OS.

I don’t trust that deal on ebay cause my friend got scammed 3 times.

Where else are you going to find 3+ year old hardware for your pipe dream system? Craigslist?
Plus, it’s being sold by a company. You can probably go direct to them, and charge it on credit card. BAM! No more risk and you’ll probably get a better price because they won’t have to pay eBay listing fees or PayPal extortion money.

I live in Croatia so that’s a problem

LOL! You’re screwed.

Only thing to buy on ebay is cheap game lots. Or batteries direct from lumsing.

Ebay.co.uk could be an option. Within EU no hassle with import duties and VAT. Just stick to the reputale sellers and insure the package if you don’t trust the mailman.
