So I just built my new pc and the first thing that came to mind after I finished the build was, "Custom loop time" but I dont know what to do. I think I have everything picked out besides fittings (dont have a clue there what type, size, ect.) and could use your opinions and help to make this look perfect. Dont really have a budget, just want the loop to run cool (the room it will be in is a constant 25-30 degrees C). Also I dont know what fans I should get. I have the 8 fans that are in the build linked below but will they be enough to push air through them? They seem to perform as good as the deepcool fans that were on the captain 360 (again in the build below). Let me know what you think, the first link is the watercooling items while the second one is my current pc build. Thanks! https://www.performance-pcs.com/wishlist/shared/index/code/9190b7d3759e513d56c7006677397242/mw/MTY3NDM%3D/ http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=34796208
At those ambient temps, and for the rig you have there ... It's not as if you NEED a custom loop, that AIO cooler you have in the build list will keep your cpu plenty cool, even with a fair overclock. As far as case temps go, you have plenty of fans just make sure you use filtered intakes and attempt to keep a proper static pressure level (blow it up like a balloon with more intake than exhaust) to stop dust from seeping into small cracks in the case assembly.
That being said, awesome looking rig you got, and if you still decide to go with a custom loop it looks like you've got some solid parts picked out there, maybe just some EK pressure fittings and you're all set.
If you want hard-line fittings, I'd go for Primochill Ghost rigid compression fittings 1/2" OD.
Also are you sure you want your first water cooling experience to be doing rigid tubing? Just giving a warning that rigid tubing is exceptionally difficult to work with and I do not recommend using rigid tubing for your first loop.
Haha thanks. I really dont think I NEED anything cooled more than it is now, its more of a I want to do this and want to overclock the GPU more, oh and silence too lol. Ill look into those fittings.
Thanks for the heads up but Im in it for the challenge... but i have limits too lol thats why I went with PETG over acrylic honestly too. Ill look into those fittings, thanks.
Just making sure you are aware of what you are getting into and that you understand that you may go through all of tubing and have to order more before your loop is finished.
Also avoid Monsoon rigid fittings because they require you to superglue pieces onto your tubing.
Really? Thats wierd. Ill stick with their bending kit but Ill go elsewhere for fittings for sure then. Ill need to be able to move this thing in a year or two. And I kinda thought I would end up going through more tubing that the 4 pack So i went with that 12 pack of the 36 inch tubing and could get a second cause Im sure ill find a use for it. Thanks!
Go find Bill Owen (his channel name is his name) from MNPC Tech/Modzoo on YouTube, they have plenty of good guides on water cooling/case modding including a guide on rigid tubing and they have a video showing the Monsoon and Primochill fittings.
Eeehhh depends on the type of Monsoon fittings he gets, the chaingun ones yes do require that, but my freecentre fittings act as a regular compression fitting, no gluing required. But the collars are larger so trying to fit them into tight spaces may be a PITA
Avoid the XSPC 170/270 tube res D5 combo. They can inexplicably leak, still to this day I run mine and have no idea how it leaked, all I know is that it did. I'm just lucky that the res is far from any components so it leaked straight out of the case with no harm done.
Other than that I can recommend XSPC fittings, as well as their radiators and blocks, have had zero issues with any of them and I've been running my loop for about 18 months now.
I'm a fan of 3/8 x 5/8 tubing, I also used xspc black chrome fittings they are about 4 dollars a piece and are absolutely gorgeous. If you want coolant with color its mayhems or go home. D5 pumps are awesome, if you go ddc make sure it has a fan blowing on it or it will die. If you're going to use multiple metals make sure you use corrosion inhibitor (which comes in mayhems) and try not to go too crazy mixing metal types, also never include aluminum in a loop. Use 2x120mm radiators per overclocked part, that's just a loose guideline, if you go thicker you could go 3x 120 for 2 overclocked parts, that's how I did mine because I used a 45mm thick rad.
Yah I have the Economy ones, I had to modify my original layout due to the chunkiness of the collars they're much thicker than a regular soft tube compression.
Monsoon also sell adapters so if he has regular monsoon compressions he could utilise those instead of buying more fittings, not sure if they'd be compatible with other brands thouigh
But here depending on the finish and type, the Primochill ghost fittings can actually be smaller than the Monsoon economy for about a dollar more a piece and since this is the OPs first loop he won't really have any existing fittings to adapt.
