New to linux

I am running mint 20.2 and I can’t seem to get my wifi to get half of my isp speed. I’m running a tp link t4u v3 with a archer a7.

What’s the ISP speed? Are you connecting to the 5GHz band and not the 2.4GHz band. Also is your port the wifi card is plugged into USB 3.0 or higher?

Also, the first review on Amazon says there’s driver issue on Linux kernel 5.0 and higher.

Hello and welcome! Can you clarify more about your system? Are you using a laptop? Desktop?

Are you using any PCIe wifi adapters?
Are you using an onboard LAN to connect to a router?

Just for clarification, have you tried this setup on Windows to see if it is as performant?

Otherwise here is a myriad of reason why you WiFi throughput could be affected.

Going to need some more background information in order to assist.

We really need more information to be helpfull here.
Did you already try if you are getting the appropriate speed when connected by wire?
And what speeds should you get and what are you actually getting?
I mean there could be allot of things that could affect wifi speeds.
But i think the main thing to test first if you get the appropriate speeds when connected by wire.

I have no wire here on wifi under 30 when I had windows I was getting around 90 on this wifi setup.

copy and paste this line in a terminal and then copy and paste the results back here.

lspci -v | grep -A 10 -i “Network Controller”

this will give us the wireless card hardware info. some wireless cards don’t perform great in linux. Sometimes there are other drivers available to try.

You should do a sudo apt install grep first. It looks like you dont have grep yet.

It’s the quotes. There’s mismatched characters in there maybe from a bad copy and paste or something.
