So my apartment recently flooded and I lost my PC; however, the PC was from 2009 and waiting to be upgraded and now with the insurance money I've recieved I'm looking to do another build. I'm looking in the Sub$2000 range and looking for quality, as well as decent value (although obviously the true value is in a lower price bracket). The part list I've made so far can be seen here:

Love to here your opinions and suggestions.
Also, a few points first:
I live near a MicroCenter and thus plan to save money on the CPU by buying it there. The extra $50ish will be spent on a be Quiet! Dark Rock 2. This, if not shown by the rest of the parts selected, is because I'm a real silence-freak.
The PC's purpose, as for many of us, is majorly gaming focused with a minor in video editing/rendering.
And i have heard the X79 motherboards are not that great in performance. You really dont need LGA 2011, A i7 4770k is more than enough when only doing minor video rendering and editing. Use what you have left for something like another SSD and RAID 0
i wouldnt get anything above a 770 for 1080p as the 780 wont be utilized, i would suggest you take advantage of it and get a 1440p monitor or a surround setup
x79 is ofc a great platform, but in my oppinion only interesting if you could spend a 200 dollars more and go with the i7-3930K, the i7-3820 is a bit pointless in my opinnion. i still not know realy why intel made that product, ofc its a great cpu dont get me wrong, but not realy something that fits in a highend system, thats what i think. i would only go with x79 if you need much pci-e lanes..
Just to explain my thinking: I plan to pick up a 4930K when Ivy-E releases later this year, which is the rationale behind the X79 platform. I also more ment minor video editing as in a college degree; I edit and render about an hour of 1080p video per day. And as to the 780 versus 770, it's mostly performance greed and a love for the cooler and GK110.
Oh really? I had heard Ivy-E would work with a BIOS update and Haswell-E in late 2014 would start LGA 2011-3 and DDR4. I'll do more research and come back.
well your plan is ofc not bad at all, i only dont know if that msi x79 GD45 board is a good board or not.. i think that i would lookop for a better one. Asrock Extreme 6 or gigabyte up4. to bad those asus boards look realy overpriced..
I had looked at the ASUS boards, which are primarily what I've used in the past, but they are really expensive, and X79 motherboards are expensive anyway. I'll look at other motherboards and compare reviews.
