i have finally bought a ssd. Heard so much about them and finally decided to get one for myself. I got the Mushkin Msata 240GB ssd. Ive heard nothing but good things about them and how they are superior is 9.9/10 ways and i have to agree.
As owning only hdd ive never really noticed or should i say cared about the noise it processes. After doing the start up of installing the os on the with the old hdd removed my laptop was so silent it was amazing. Now everytime i go and use a program on the hdd i can hear the spin up start and the reader moving and it just doesnt sound appealing.
As owning windows 8 i was amazed with the start up times compaired to windows 7. I felt it decreased start up time by about 5-10 sec in my case. Now with the ssd start uptakes less than 10 seconds. which im impressed.
I would post a screenshot of the ssd speeds im getting but the max read 55MB/s 92k iops and write 530MB/s 80k iops and my msata slot is only a sata2. And i can only see the sata3 speeds getting much better. I have an extra 2.5" bay i could have got but i am wanting a 1tb ssd when they get a little cheaper and i couldnt find the new 480gb mstata by mushkin.
Games start up fast and load faster, id probly rage quit if i went to go play a console game, programs like adobe premiere start up in a few seconds.
I'm more than impressed and really better than i thought it would be. If your hdd crashes or your just thinking about a new hard drive and arent sold on ssd's id like to just say they are more than worth it. Only reason to wait is for the prices to get cheaper but i was happy with spending less than a dollar a GB and would recommend a drive bigger than just one for the OS because you will be wishing you got a larger drive to put your programs on. So I would wait instead of rushing for that reason.
