After replacing their 15 year old CRT-TV my parents want to replace their 25 year old soundsystem as well. It'll be used for movies and music of course. With a budget of around 600-800 euros I came across the following: Philips HTR9900, its a 7.1 set from 2009 that currently sells for 699. It comes with a rebranded NAD T747 receiver. While they would like a surround system I don't mind recommending them anything from a 2.0 to 7.1 system. I'm wondering if they could do better by seperately purchasing a receiver and accompanying speaker set?
