i just bought the asus rt-n66r n900 router but i havent opened it yet. i paid $120 for it. My house+yard is 6000 square feet (i dont know metric system). but will this router provide the full 50gbps internet i pay for? if not should i get a wifi range extender or just go with a different router? all help is welcomed. thank you
Extenders just cut your speed in half. As far as will this cover 6000 sq ft? More than likely not. The further out you go from the router the speed will decrease rapidly. You also have to consider competition around you for the frequencies the router operates in? Do you live in a highly populated area or are you out in the countryside? The router in question does have a detachable antennae so you can get a high gain one if the stock doesn't work out. Best thing to do is centralize the router in the places you want it to work (center of radius) and just give it a go. You might lose the radio lotto and have to rma or it will work for you. Either way good luck.
