New power supply for hp

hi there guys

So my psu bombed out on me today(hp) ( i stay in south africa , had a power surge today no fault of my own as i wasnt arround).

The oem psu was 16pin(atx)+4pin(cpu) for the mobo
i was just curious to know if i could get a modular psu to replace or am i forced to get an oem one and pay through my butt for a 400w psu

much thanks
raj

You probably need something like this to adapt a normal power supply to it, just with the right pin count naturally

Thank you for your help
you have helped me save a lot of money

much appreciated

I'm not 100% though on if an adapter would be safe, because you'd be converting 20 pins into 16 pins, are you sure it's 16 pins? Do ya got a picture?

i just double checked and its 20 pins
i think in my state of panic i must have gotten confused

what would you recommend as a replacement between $50-$60 ?

Ordering from the US?

Scratch that last one, 20 dollar Mail in rebate

But ya that HP thing is just a smaller 20 pin I guess to save motherboard space maybe. I got one once, but as it turns out the motherboard had died at some point

ill try to source locally
we have a very stiff import tax here

this is probably the best one i can source locally within my budget

Should be fine, modular is always the way to go.
