New Pc works, cant connect to the internet

I got the PC built and running windows 8, but it won't detect the internet.

 

It says to install a driver for my network adapter, but I don't have any drivers for it.

 I've tried plugging the PC directly to the modem and that doesnt work either. The Ethernet light goes off on my modem when I connect it directly to the PC.

download the driver either for the network card or for the motherboard depending which you're using, put in on a usb and transfer it to the pc and install it

Can I install the motherboard drivers from the CD and update them once I get the internet going?
