New PC Buy/Build Help

feel free to post questions on the pccg facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pccasegear?fref=ts it's like a small comunity there and you can get info about the store and new products ect. I'm one of the regulars there too :)

You've been an awesome help man, thanks heaps :)

No worries :) it helps that you're a nabour

I was looking into a few things to switch around in order to get a mech board.

I have been looking at the MSI Z77A-G41 Motherboard - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21555

This mobo only has one usb 3.0 but my case has 2, im not entirely sure how it works, but will that be a problem?

You'll have to leave one port dead, or use an adapter to use it as USB2.

Now with the build:

Is this for gaming? If it is, drop the SSD, you will only see faster boot times and load times with it. Then with the saved money, upgrade the 7870 to a 7950.

If you want, drop the case for a Cooler Master Haf 912 Plus. Then with the saved money, you'll probably be able to afford a 7970.

Also, I can't recommend OCZ. Get something like SeaSonic, Antec, Corsair or XFX.

what are you doing as far as a cpu cooler? air or liquid? and like Z said... i wouldn't want you to subject yourself to that mistake on the psu either.

try this   http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_226&products_id=19763

i recommended it for a cheap reliable mod psu on another post earlier, i dont personally own it but i have read many reviews on it as far as a great mid-range lower priced psu with great performance, plus its antec... they make pretty good psu's

btw your case has a 20-pin usb 3.0 connector with the case pre-installed, the 2 usb 3.0 in the back are native on board on your mobo... so yea you will be able to use both usb 3.0's on the case check out new egg for the case review at the 4:34 min mark, hope this helps

I'll justt stick with the AsRock board i think.

Mostly for gaming, web browsing and school work.

How are the ThermalTake PSU's? - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_535&products_id=19150

I'll make some changes and see how i go, thanks heaps for the reply.

I was just going to go with the stock one for now until i get it and get eveything built, then i will hopefully be overclocking and buying a cpu cooler, something like the H100.

I will be changing my psu. Thanks heaps for the reply.

I think i will be just sticking with the asrock board, but thanks for the reply :)

Yeah! Stick with the asrock, it's the best in its price range :) but let's be realistic about the cooler, chuck in the 212 now and you'll be able to oc to like 4.2ghz, maybe a tad more, because realistically 90% of people that say they'll make upgrades in the forseable future there current config serfices & the upgrade never happens :P stick with the SSD because you shouldn't be really talkin yourself out of practicality, SSD's makes work and browsing so much more productive & that's something you have to live with. Nobody just uses a pc for gaming so why build it for that, it's better to have a more well rounded zippy system for both gaming and surfing ;) as for the case, it's a personal choice, always have no budget for your case, if you wan't to save a few $ by downgrading your case to something you're not 100% happy with I garantee you'll regret waisting your money on the cheap case only to run out and buy the one that doesn't drive you mad LOL. when building a system you have to get it right the first time otherwise you've just waisted money on crappy components that you'll wanna replace out of sheer frustration.

Talking yourself out of cool components to save a bit of of cash is something I come across a lot and it gets you nowhere! Always buy quality parts, even if that means breaking the bank :) because you'll only break it more in the bigger picture

Alright, i'll have a look into the coolers :) do you think the 212 is the best bag for your buck ?

Yeah i was going to stick with the ssd anyway.

I've been waiting now for about a month and a half to sort out what the best build would be and im glad i did. I look back on the build i was putting together a month ago and it is just rubbish, im so glad i've gotten so many opinons :)

True, true. I guess we should add that to the rules of PC building.

If anyone doesn't get this, I'll try giving an example:

You buy a crappy PSU. Sucks a lot of energy from your socket, but doesn't deliver it to your parts. Few months later, it breaks down. Then you have to go buy another one( hopefully a quality one this time). Buying those two costs more than just buying a good PSU in the first place.

Anyways, just posted that just to let people who are building know

Yeah, i was going to buy an OCZ PSU, but the reviews really werent great, and not many people had a good opinion about OCZ. I thought it was good because it was modular, but not worth it.

Changed it up to a Thermaltake 600W TR2 Bronze TR-600P - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19150

Reviews seem to be pretty good on them.

way better choice on the psu ;)... lol,  but yea def drop the lil bit in cash for the 212 now and get all your bios and oc's and benchmarking done (if you're doing any) at the start of build... less crap to have to worry about later on and besides the 212 is amazing and 1/2 the price it should cost for what it does.

Ahh sorry man, but im pretty new to pc building, what do you mean by benchmarking? it doesn't need to be done does it?

Thanks for the reply :)

no it doesn't need to be done ;) benchmarking utilities just stress your system to find out how fast it is compaired to other systems. they're all braging rights :P

Hahaha! Nice choice. That's the psu i'm using right now in my gaming rig ;)

hahah fair enough :) i dont think i'll need to then.
