New OS on old ssd

I'm goining to get myself a new OS, using XP at the moment but as it's declared dead by MS its time to go to 7.

I'm wondering how to clear mij ssd  as i read it can not be formated, so how do I prepare my ssd for new instal?

Greetz,

Eric

An SSD can be formatted like any other drive. I'd suggest starting up the WIndows 7 installation and therein choose to format the drive before proceeding. Before installation it's a good idea to look into the motherboard BIOS to see if AHCI mode for the SATA ports are enabled, as running in AHCI has benefits for using an SSD with a modern version of Windows.

Thanks I was mistaken with defraging a ssd.
