I'm in the market for a new gaming mouse (really just a mouse) but i don't know what to get. My only requirements are that its built great and lasts. I don't need lights or macro buttons but lights are welcome and no razer mice. Anyone have any sugessions?

I kinda get a good grip on the Corsair M60, comparing to the Logitech G9 I *still* have. The Steelseries mice though has a larger, better body, but that'll be because I got larger hands.

Any opinons on the zowie EC1 eVo I'm kinda leaning towards that.
I have it and love it! It's my favorite mouse to date. Before getting it, I had a Deathadder and a G9x. The sensor feels so much smoother and precise than the DA/G9x, and overall it fits my hand better.
Also, the switches in the Zowie EC1 eVo are higher quality than Razer's. I had two Deathadders within a year and the left click died on both.

Why are you ruling out Razer? I literally just picked my very first gaming mouse up today. Before I was using a crappy Logitech revolution and suffered from terrible responsiveness.
I picked up the Razer Taipan. The synapse2 software seems to be on point and same with the mouse. Awesome feel, good size and just has amazing responsiveness.
Zowie Ec1 evo is a great mouse, and also the logitech G500 is fantastic
