New Monitor (Need Help)

So I am looking for a replacement monitor thatll keep my attention for atleast two years. I have been using 27in ones since 2007. My first was 1920 x 1200 27.5in hanns g. My second was asus (2010) My third is from this past spring as I sold my asus one with my old rig. It is another Hanns G but its 1080p. I want something new, sure more pixels are nice, but not necessary. I cna easily live with 1080p for the fact that its atleast 3 feet away. Im thinking 3d would be nice, 27in min. Also 2k would be nice, but as I said not necessary.

I primarily will be playing games with it, dabble with image editing. I have had good luck with ASUS and HannsG but am willing to switch. I have a samsung smart tv and think its good, but TVs arent monitors and dont know how good their ones are.

Ill keep the more recent hanns g for photo editing, as it is ips and very bright.

the one 2k 3d one with a good sync time was like 800. Should I wait. By next year will I be able to get a fairly inexpensive (800 or less) 4k 3d monitor? If thats the case I can easily wait a year. I havent even been able to find a 4k 3d monitor.

look at www.pccasegear.com and i reccomend an asus monitor with g-sync

I have narrowed it down to three. I decided Ill wait till 3d is completely glassless. Plus in the next few months i plan on getting a 1080p 3d projector for keepsake. Anyways I decided Im going 4k, 1ms response and 60hz. I have found 60hz hasnt ever been a problem for me. Since 2007 I have been using a 27in as my primary and it has been 1080p. I have replaced it twice in the last 7 years, but I have found comfort in 27in for gaming. I just want to up the pixels, I haven't had IPS either which is actually fine. TN is perfectly fine for me havent noticed any issues in games. I can play crysis at full on @ 1080p with about 60 fps. I dont plan on pushing any games that would stress it in the next year or so, just because I want to relive my golden game days in 4k glory. Half Life, AOE, Command and Conquer, Runescape in 4k hehehe, CSGO, etc.

i would personally chose the asus one

I just want to know if I am jumping the gun on this. I want it for two primary reasons, dual source input simultaneously is one. Two is for future high end gaming in like a year. I want it for photo work as well as movies. About all I'd be playing on it is Runescape, Minecraft, CSGO, Killing Floor, and a bunch of game pre 2010 (BFBC2, HL2, etc). Besides I doubt TN 4k technology is gonna have better colors a year from now and they wont be really any less than they are now, may 350 min price. I can see IPS being priced 700ish 2 years from now. I mean 1080p IPS 27in now are about 300, TN are 200.

I have a 280x that claims 4k support. So in a year I will get a new card for when I start playing Far Cry 3 or Crysis with it. Then again I will still have this 1080p 27in that I can easily switch back to for gaming.

What kind of photo work do you do? Generally TN panels have not the best for any sort of editing work.

Generally that is what I have read. But I haven't had and IPS panel up until recently. I have only had tablet IPS displays. It honestly is not much different. Side by side it is identical, just slightly less washed out colors. Both are LED. Anyways I always thought that IPS were better, but I have survived 10+ on TN and really dont mind the slight color difference for two reasons. One my brain can adjust to the slight degradation of true to life color reproduction. But it isnt any different for comparing my LG G3 to the Note 3 or 4. The colors on the Note are better, but does it bother me? I dont think it really declines the experience. I mean I have no trouble making out images and the depth presented in the given images. TN often has a faster response time and refresh rate, which are more crucial to gamers.

To actual professionals it would matter about reproduction just because they want it to look the best as possible. I perform mainly web design (light work).

i have an ips screen, although its only full hd... but in my opinion, ips is exactly what you want for editing anything graphical, i dont know how to describe it propperly, but the view is so much smoother and accurate on all angles
