New life for an old router?

Hi, everyone. I’m sorry if my question sounds kind of obvious, but I’ve looked everywhere already and can’t find the answer to my question.

Just today, I’ve upgraded the family modem to a TP-Link. BUT, the old modem is already discontinued. I’d like to turn the old modem into a wireless bridge to connect the computers in my room to home WiFi. Is there any firmware or setting I have overlooked that could turn the modem into a receiver/bridge?

Model name: D-Link DVA-G3671B

Thank you guys so much, I’ve been looking into it, but there is no dd-wrt support for this piece of shoddy hardware.

Hi there.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt that it would be possible to turn this device into a RECEIVER, however if you already had ethernet run to your room I could see it being used as a repeater. These routers always normally have locked down interfaces, making it hard to perform tasks like this.

If you did need to get internet in your room, I strongly recommend wired internet. Now, this is normally hard due to running cables, but I'm going to suggest "powerline adapters" which use your house's electrical wiring for data transmission.

I use these for several of my clients where its hard to run wires, and have yet to find a complaint (Theres cheaper models, but not as fast)

Wow, this looks wonderful! It would solve all my problems with running wires into my room from the family modem! And I could use the old modem as a switch to connect all the computers in my room to LAN! THANK YOU, Justin4171, you are a good person.
