New Harddrive

I think my old 1 TB Seagate barracuda might die pretty soon, it has been working hard for many years, so I'm in the market for a new harddrive, but which? I already have a 120GB SSD (Samsung 840) for the OS and my programs and I didn't need to buy an HDD for the last 7 years, so I'm at a loss. Are there statistics on the average lifespan of popular HDDs, like the WD blue? What about the speed, is it worth getting a faster harddrive for shorter loading times in games? My plan would be to just put games, music, pictures, etc. on the drive and use my old one to capture game footage until it dies. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Western Digital, they practically have a Monopoly on good non-enterprise Hard Drives. I'm in the same boat, (except my Segate died) I recommend to get a WD Black Drive, I'll order one sometime next month. I'm not sure if I can wait for Pink Friday for a new one.

I have blacks in my rig and they have worked great for me. That being said, my cousin picked up 3tb blues last year for Black Friday for around $90 (Newegg has them for $199 right now). Since we're only a month away, I would try to make do with your 840 if you can, and see what deals they run later this month.

I have WD Blues, they have been going very good for me, I will soon be upgrading to a WD black

A 1TB WD blue would cost 69€ here, while the black is at 89€ currently, is it really worth the extra 20 bucks to upgrade from a 7200RPM drive to another 7200RPM drive? What is the difference between the two? Also, is it worth getting something like the Velociraptor (10000RPM) just for games?
