(i hope this is the right subsection of the relevant section… too old for these modern forum designs; sorry)
Thought i’d say hi really, a very novel concept i know. So i’m the new guy! Not like the joke though, ain’t named Achmed. It is my first time though.
Came across L1 as i was doing my ‘research’ for Linux, time has come for this old fart to finally, amen to that, say goodbye to Windows; and so long. Am mentioning this as i’m thankful for the content provided, forums included. Some pretty helpful guides around here.
And also how i found you folks
That’s about it, y’all have a good one.

No need, already set on that
Twofold process:
Start with Mint, fail fail fail, read read read, fail some more.
Eventually go Arch; more fails.
I can be humble, lol…

Thank you
Likewise to everyone else by the way, i’m not sure if i can multi-quote here and i don’t wish to spam with multiple posts.
As long as you’re not quoting for the sake of spam, we’re fine with quoting whatever.
This thread covers most of the functionality you’ll need to be proficient with this forum.
The forums generally keep up to date with the latest stable or beta build of discourse.

Emojis have been enabled. Use responsibly
Code Blocks
As i've noticed not too many people know how to use them, there's a few ways to do code blocks
inline like this
inline `like this`
as a separate line, use 4 spaces then your code/syntax
like this
As a block of text with coloured highlighting
#!/usr/bin/python
print("heres some python")
```python
#!/usr/bin/python
print("heres some python")
```
Plugins and Stuff
A Solutions Plugin
In some categories (Windows, and Linux for now) there is a solutions plugin enabled, allowing the topic owner to accept a post as a solution to their topic. Super useful for helpdesk/question-related topics.
We might expand this to other areas but think these two are the main places it is useful for.
All you need to do as the topic owner is select the check box for the post that had the solution.

Details Plugin
Updated recently, this allows you to create a compressed details view to hide a bunch of information with a title heading if you want.
[details=title to show]hidden details[/details]
title to show hidden details
Spoiler
You should already be familiar, we've had it a while
Wilson was a volleyball
Patreon Plugin
You may notice a little tick beside some users avatars, this indicates they are patreon peeps. (its done via email, so if you don't see one but should that's why.)
Support for Tables
You can use tables within your posts using HTML syntax.
Example:
<table>
<tr>
<th>header</th>
<th>header</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>cell</td>
<td>cell</td>
</tr>
</table>
Output:
header header cell cell

I’ll need to update it.
@Aenra highlight text and youll get an option to quote, you can do it multiple times in a topic. you can also quote text from other topics and then cut the text (and cancel the reply) then paste the quote where you wanted to reply it links back to the persons post.
Also, hi.
