who do you think will win at time of release? ATI's HD 5800 series or Nvidia's GTX 300(high end) series?
i was just really curious on what other people thought. 
Depends on what you mean by win. Win by getting most sales? Win by being most powerful? Win by being best bang for the buck?
I believe that ATI will do better with DX11 seeing as how they got an early start with DX10.1. (From what I hear at least.)
how you interpret win is up to you. overall who do you think will do the best.
I think ATI will get more frames per second in general; until Nvidia pays all the game studios to tweak the new games to be better on Nvidia branded cards. I also think Nvidia will have the upper hand as far as DX11 apps go because they already have a background in that sort of thing with their cuda/physx technology. In the end I think ATI as usual will have the best bang for the buck. Just a feeling from the trends these two companies follow.
Id go with ATi as ive used ATi only in my life.
NVIDIA will be the best single GPU as always and NVIDIA will win because ATI dose not have any games.
Okaaay childish, but I agree. ATi have some great cards, but horrible drivers.. Nvidia got great cards and great drivers. So I don't mind paying that little extra for nvidia.

Yes ATI dose make Awesome cards for the money and the X2 cards are SICK and the 5870X2 looks to be the coolest one yet.
The 4870X2 made me really think about going ATI with QUAD CrossFire X but I have always liked NVIDIA more though.

I think Nvidia will win. The HD5800s look nice, but I think Nvidia has got something up their sleeve. And those damn GT300s look insane.
300 is gonna be more powerful and the 5800's are gonna be cheaper and slightly slower (wide gap trailing nvidia in some games)

Yeah my 9800gtx lasts for years.. but Isold it and bought a gtx 260 c216 because... hmm because.. yeah exactly "we" just want the new stuff :P If I can sell my rig to a dumbass anytime soon, I'd gladly upgrade to like x58 and gt300 series... Oh well getting a job soon, so I think I'm gonna just make another build, and have both x]
Yes the ASUS GTX 295 MARS with two 2GB GTX 285 cards in one is the SICKEST cards ever made and in quad SLI with 4 GTX 295 with a total of 8GB of the universe would probably implode LOL.
