New GNOME Files is dumb

Hello world,

Okay, so wth is this:

Why is the grid taking up so much space? And why can’t I make it smaller?, look how much space there is inbetween the files and folders.

How can this be solved? And when can I open archives in the same filer?

Alvast bedankt

You can adjust the size using the layout menu or simply hold shift and move your mouse will up or down.

You can also tell it to do detail layout or something else.

I tested that scrolling, it was already at minimum. I don’t know about the other part.

Check display scaling then? That is hella weird.

Change? What do you think this is, KDE? Worst case, install Nemo.

It’s the Linux Mint fork of Gnome Files were they didn’t remove all the settings :stuck_out_tongue: Linux Mint - Community

What do you want me to change?

ICONS.

I just got the update that changed the look of gnome and gnome-shell. I am still not seeing what you are seeing though. I do hate the “let’s hide everything behind a menu” though process of this release. I used to be able to right-click for a context menu. Now I have right-click for a context group and then click that to hopefully see the option that I want to select. Why are we implementing touch interface concepts on the desktop?
This is just as bad as MS pushing Metro on the server. Why would you push tablet application interfaces on enterprise servers?
