New gigabyte BIOS

Hello.

Recently Gigabyte has released new BIOS firmware files for several boards.

My particular board is the Z370 Aorus Gaming 5, and in the description of the file there’s the following information:
"
Introduce capsule BIOS support starting this version.
Customers will NOT be able to reverse to previous BIOS version due to major vulnerabilities concerns.
"

I use this PC with linux with a PCIe passthrough setup for windows 10 and I’m worried that the new update messes up the IOMMU groups and (as advertised) I’ll not be able to roll back to a previous BIOS version.

So I’d like to ask if someone had any experience with this.

Send Gigabyte support an email asking about the iommu groupings

I’ve sent them an e-mail.
I’ll post the answer here for reference.

In the meantime, does anyone know what a “capsule BIOS” is?
