New Gaming Rig Build Advice Needed

Oh so heres the deal, I'm looking to upgrade my gaming Rig and was hoping I could get some honest feedback on here concerning which CPU would be better. I'm currently either looking at a Intel i5 3570k build or a AMD fx-8350 build using a Nvidia 660ti graphics card as the gpu. I'm a gamer but I do sometimes like to use photoshop and do some video editing. Both builds cost pretty much the exact same so basically I really need some honest opinions on which would be the better more furture proof build. Parts are listed below for each build. Both cost about 1,400 total. I do plan on Over clocking the processor aswell, hoping to get about 4.5ghz as a baseline. Please if your a fanboy, I don't want your opinion. Unbiased opinions/recommendations only. Thanks.

Intel:

  •     Intel Core i5-3570k
  •     AsRock Z77 Extreme4 Mobo
  •     MSI GeForce GTX 660ti 2gb 192-bit
  •     XFX p1-750B-BEFX 750w Modular power supply
  •     Adata XPG SX900 128gb ssd
  •     Muskin Enhanced Blackline 32gb (4 x 8gb) ddr3 1866 ram
  •     Corsair Hydro Series H100i water cooler

AMD:

  •     AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0ghz
  •     Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 Mobo
  •     MSI GeForce GTX 660ti 2gb 192-bit
  •     Seasonic X series x650 Gold Modular power supply
  •     Adata XPG SX900 128gb ssd
  •     Adata XPG Gaming series 32gb (4 x 8gb) ddr3 1600 ram
  •     Corsair Hydro Series H100i water cooler

With the inclusion oif an H100i id say 3570K when Oc'd to 4.5+ Ghz which you should at minimum be able to get with an H100i it will run everything with relative ease, the 8350 is good but when all those threads arent being used its a lot weaker than the 3570K.

I know some people will say 8350 and link Logans review ect... but take a look across forums and other reviews and try and build your own concesus on what will work better for you, and what the benifits of either are. Also id say drop the RAM unless your editing a lot, in which case id say get an i7 32Gb is pretty useless for Gaming/Light video editing.

Edit: To add one more point the HD4000 the 3570k has can come in handy in a few situations.

I havent been editing alot lately but who knows, maybe with the better rig I may start recording gameplay again. I do plan on later down the road buying another 660ti to put in SLI aswell to beef gameplay up a bit. Should I save some cash and just get some really fast memory and only run 8gb? or should I cut it down to about 16gb?

Well, the threads and cores will be used during editing. Most( if not all) editing programs are multi-threaded, where the FX series is know to be good at. Plus, since he said that he records gameplay( assuming you upload them), wouldn't it be an added benefit if he decides he wants to stream a live gameplay? In games, the 8350 and 3570K are very close, so there isn't that much loss when you choose the 8350 over the i5. So you get better editing performance, on-par gaming performance( and sometimes crushes the i5), and as an added bonus, better streaming performance. You might say that it consumes more power, but in reality, the difference is not that much.

Also, multi-threads are the way of the future.

I would take ram down to 16 gb and get a better SSD like maybe the new OCZ ones or the Vertex 4 from OCZ. Maybe a kingston HyperX SSD.

The 8350 Oc'd Draws a lot more power than the i5 and were talking about Oc'd to 4.5 or higher here, sure the Fx vs i5 is close at stock but a 300mhz increase wont show nearly as much gain as a 700mhz gain if both are equal from the onset.

Seems like the 3570k may be the best option for me then. I dont plan on doing any Streaming to the web, and I agree overclocking the i5 to 4.5ghz should be rather simple to do or even go past to say 4.8 and still draw less power than the AMD. Ive gone ahead and dropped the ram down to 16gb and changed out the Adata ssd to a OCZ Vortex 4:   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227792

16Gb should be plenty and just to add im pretty sure you can get the Samsung 830 250Gb for around 190$ if you want a really reliable SSD for a bit less, is a bit slower but you might not even notice it.

heres the SSD:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147189

Thanks very much! Always open to saving a lil cash. Im sure Any ssd will be a great improvement over my mechanical drives I always use. As long as its reliable, I'm all for it.

Am I not reading this right? I found a Kit with the Hdd in it that comes with a Mounting blacket for the same price.. Is this the same Hdd? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147186

Mounting backplate as in 2.5" to 3.5" adapter ? if so its right, its just for cases that dont have 2.5" Drive Mounts, and with those savings you can buy food! or games! ... or if you adventrous a custom loop instead of a H100!

Thank you very much for your help. I'm confident in my new build setup now. Going to be ordering all my new components very soon! Maybe in the future I will venture into the world of custom water cooling but I have never done so before so I'm a complete novice in that regard. Thanks again =]
