New gaming rig, $1100-$1200

Well, my current system is getting quite rusty and can't really handle newer games, so I think I'll be upgrading in the summer.

This is the current build I have so far, which can take on pretty much anything, to my knowledge...

If anyone would like to opinate, and change some things, keep in mind that I need the following things:

-It's mainly for gaming.

-I already have a hard drive, and an optical drive. I also have a small graphics card I will be putting into my new system for a companion display.

- I won't be doing multi-monitor display. I'll be playing 1920x1080p on high-max settings.

-$1200 is about my limit.

-Needs to be portable due to a lot of LAN parties, but I don't want a Micro-ATX or Mini-ATX.

-I want it to be mainly air cooled, apart from the CPU, which I'd prefer in a closed water-loop. If anyone can find a air cooler that performs as well or better for around the same price, I don't mind.

-I will be overclocking... The GPU, the CPU, maybe even the RAM.

For portability I'd say you can't beat mini-ITX but since you don't want that (I don't know why since you said you'll be going to LAN parties) I'd recommend the Corsair C70 as a case instead of that hulking full tower. I will throw you a couple PC Partpicker Lists: ( Plus you dont need 16GB of RAM)

Mini-ITX just for you to look at:

Other Suggestion (Regular ATX)

dude buy the power supply today, the $60 off sale ends tommarow

He doesn't need nearly that much power though.

NCIX is having a ridiculous AMD 7000 series GPU sale on may, I would take advantage of it (US only, however they ship to other countries).  They are selling Sapphire cards on very low prices with all the game bundles and stuff on a specific day:

April 25: HD 7870, May 2: HD 7970 (zomg!), may 9: 7790, may 16: 7770.

So you could be getting a 7970 for something like 270$  and put it on this build.

go with the 670 if it is 1200

I wouldn't mind getting a 7870 or a 7950, hell, maybe if a 7970 if the price is right.

But which manufacture, Powercolor?

Powercolor is poopy for the most part they're just stock AMD cards.

Shame...

Might just get that Asus GTX 660. Its only $190.

Just an idea; http://pcpartpicker.com/p/SHp8 .

If you want something more balanced out lemme know. But an 8350 won't bottleneck the 680.

Its a nice build, but I'll be overclocking and the 212 evo won't be good enough . I'd rather get a cheaper GPU like a 7950, and then get a H100i or a Kraken X60.

And by the way, I don't mind big cases, I actually prefer them. It will give me headroom in the future to do things like quad-sli, make a huge watercooled system.

I think it'd be a better idea to just upgrade your case later on rather than buy a super expensive one now if you plan on dropping your bank into this. The 300r is a very nice case anyways and a hell of a deal.

The evo is fine for decent overclocking. But an H80i will no doubt be a nice upgrade.

This is the best you will get for the money

Great power design on the Mobo

the NH-D14 can cool as good as an H100i and is also silent

the HIS x2 cooler is one of the best for 79xx series and its voltage unlocked and OC's like a beast

and the PSU is solid + the C70 has carrying hendles, and it supports quite a few casefans so if you add some later you may be able to keep things cooler or quieter.

They actually have an nice non-reffrence GPU cooler which is up there with coolers like msi twin frozor.

Which is why I said for the most part. They have one or two cards with nice coolers.

I like this build quite a lot.

I'd change out the motherboard for a Asrock Extreme4, or a Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H.

Another suggestion for you: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/SAFT

Unless your going for that board for a specific reason, id stick with the Gigabyte, the VRM designe is top notch and it should be easier and better at Overclocking, especially with an Air cooler vs something like a custom loop.

dude there is a huge difrence between 660 and 660 ti  go for a 670 or 660ti
