Hey guys I need help. I am building a gaming pc and I want to buy some parts mainly the CPU GPU and the MOTHERBOARD I want to keep it in a budget of 300 or less so I would like some suggestions. I have these parts in mind. I would like your take on these parts and which parts I should change in order that I get the best parts for my money.
I was thinking about getting these parts and I will state the reason for each later.
CPU: Amd Athlon x4 760k $84
GPU: Nvidia EVGA 750ti Superclocked Edition $155
MOTHERBOARD: MSI a88xm-e35 $58
I thought about getting the Athlon x4 760k because it is $5 above the 750k and it has 4 cores which I have heard is a great for newer games. Would have gone for a the amd fx 6300 but I will only be gaming and I don't think I will gain much for the extra $ and time I will have to spend saving because I do not currently own a console and I want something to game on and as fast as possible at a reasonable FPS. I also think that the money saved is best spent on the GPU.
I picked the Nvidia EVGA because I have seen a lot of reviews on this card and I do believe that it has the power to play games on a 720p monitor at a reasonable FPS. I am really interested in Playing Battlefield 4, Titanfall, Watchdogs, Skyrim, Far Cry 3 along with any good FPS that will be release in this and even two years down the line.
I picked this motherboard for no particular reason other than the fact that I don't want a DOA motherboard and this one proved that I had a low chance of being DOA because of the star rating on amazon. I live outside the US and I don't want to deal with the matter of RMA in fact I think it would be better if I discard the product and buy a new one because RMA is not an option because of return shipping. I would greatly appreciate it if someone pick a motherboard that had a really small chance of being DOA at this price point.
I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this post by commenting and giving their thoughts. I really appreciate it because this will give me an experience that I hope to enjoy. Please feel free to suggest anything that fits within the budget.
For your budget what you have picked out is great. The only thing I would add is a Cooler Master 212 EVO cpu cooler. As the stock cooler with the 760k is not that good and kinda loud. Plus you may wanna OC that 760k to 4.0ghz or 4.2ghz to get the full potential of that 750ti sc "especially if you oc the 750ti sc". The evga 750ti sc should max out anything at 720p and high settings on 1080p. I have a evga 650ti sc and its a very impressive little card "make sure you set the power management in the nvidia controller/software to high performance". The MSI A88XM-E35 is a great mobo for the price and will be addiquit for the level of gaming you will be doing. I'll post a Intel alternative as well asap.
I will get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO when my budget allows because I want to get something up and running. I would even under clock this CPU if it runs too hot but when my budget allows though a good cooler is a must buy. You should see the state of the computer I am using is in specifications wise. I am using a pentium m 1.8 and 512 ram I can bearly play youtube videos at 240p ( lol) and I need something pronto. I don't mind even gaming on a toaster as long as it is not a console because I have had to fix my xbox 360 3 times costing me $70 each time from red ring to disk drives to fan so no more consoles for me. I do a lot of internet browsing and gaming and seeing I don't have a good computer for that I need a panacea aka PC a jack of all trades master race of all. I am not aiming to get a better FPS than the next gen console but if I can why turn it down. I would greatly appreciate the Intel build I hope this post reminds you. Thanks.
I was looking at some on newegg and the price was $149-169 but the only reason I went with the Nvidia is because it had some customet rating and the R7 265 hardly had any. Before I buy anything on newegg or amazon I love to see the feedback on the cards and see the ratio of good purchases and 5 star-1 stars. I know that the R7 256 performs close to the R9 270 but I don't want any problems.
With the 750ti 2gb overclocked it matches and beats the R7 265 overclocked in some games. The 750ti has the new Maxwell gpu which is also much better and more efficient than the R7 265's. Lastly nvidia has better drivers especially their new beta(337.50) driver that will soon be a full driver. The 750ti 2gb with the new driver coming overall is better than the R7 265. AMD has released 4 beta drivers since January 2014 (14.1/14.2/14.3/14.4) "I'm currently on 14.4 with my 270x DEVIL" with little or no increase in performance except for Mantle and Crossfire users. Where as the new nvidia driver gives all of their cards a bigger boost in everything compared to Mantle giving AMD cards a slight boost in Mantle supported games and Mantle is only on a few games and will soon be dead since DirectX12 is coming very soon.
