New gaming build

Hello Tek Syndicate,

I'm interested in building a gaming rig within the next two months in anticipation of Elder Scrolls Online and eventually EQ Next. I haven't built a rig in close to ten years as I've been using mostly laptops due to portability needs so I'm a bit rusty in terms of hardware knowledge, but I'm ready to get back into building.

Budget: $2,200 incl. peripherals

Country: Netherlands, but I have friends and family in the US so I will probably be ordering most parts from US retailers as the little bit of research I've done shows the reduced hardware cost in the states + shipping to NL is usually cheaper than buying parts in Europe.

Current Peripherals: None.

Uses: Primarily gaming.

Overlocking: Yes, I want to get into overclocking.

Custom watercooling: I'll stick with a closed-loop system for this rig.

OS: Will probably dual-boot Windows 7 / Linux Mint

BTC mining: Probably not.

Gaming

Settings / FPS: I want to play on the highest settings without issue.

Resolution: 2560x1440.

Games: I plan on playing at least the following: Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim, Trine 2, and EQ Next

Rendering / Editing: None.

Peripherals

Keyboard: Mechanical.

Mouse-grip: Varied, something ergonomic would be good.

Games: MMOs / RPGs mostly.

Monitor: 27"

I would like a smallish PC, so I think that mATX is the best option. However, I would like to eventually add a 2nd graphics card for SLI and 3-monitor capability.

I'll buying the case here as that will be too expensive to ship internationally and the PSU as well, for obvious reasons.

Thank you for your help.

Your build is fine. But if you want later on to run 3 monitors at 2560 x 1440 on these games, Cards like the GTX TITAN with its 6Gb VRAM would do Much better.

The Titan is a bit more than I budgeted for, is there a comparable Radeon alternative?

7970 is nice.

Try grabbing a 7990 quick, it's a dual 7970 card, outperforms the titan, has 6gb of vram.
