My first post, hello people

Permalink in the topleft, please.

Dunno what all you're using it for and your link didn't work, but here's what I'd build for 2 large....

^- A watercooled (you could wait for the x99 mobos obviously) 6-core Intel CPU paired with an EVGA 780 classified (which is honestly just a lot better price/performance than the 780ti, good overclockability as well)... the CPU overclocked with a Kraken, you're looking at around a 4.6-4.9 GHz max 6-core (add some to budget for fans if you want the radiator to be quiet)... so you could do pretty much whatever you wanted with it... and it'd be FAST...

however... if it's exclusively for gaming... this is what I'd build...

^- no need for 8 cores in gaming... and games don't currently use SMT... 780ti and pcpartpicker doesn't list the 4690k which will be available at purchase time, so that's a placeholder... you won't need to push your CPU overclock to the absolute max, so no need for watercooling here... and it leaves you plenty of room for peripherals if you need them... everybody loves Noctua around here because they have silent fans, but Phantek and Enermax I have experience with and they are both equally effective and silent... you're looking at around a 4.3-4.6GHz overclock on air without tinkering too much...which is more than fast enough for gaming...

So disregarding the placeholders for tech advances in the next few months... build 1 would blow build 2 out of the water in rendering, virtualization, encoding, etc... build two would be better for 1440p gaming
