New Desktop Speakers

So I just got rid of my old sony speaker system that has been sitting on my desk for around 5 years, and I am looking to downsize.  I have $50 to spend and so far these are the two systems that I am looking at.

If you guys have any other suggestions I am happy to hear them, just a few requirements, I want them to have a subwoofer, because I am a bit of a bass head, but I don't want a system that is too overpowering to the point of my games and music sounding muddy.

Those Altecs are not bad for the price, But I personally would stick it out for a bit longer and invest in these

$299 for a pair of active JBL Studio monitors. But if you just need some speakers yesterday, the altecs are fine.

Ok I think I will go with the Altecs, I don't need that nice of speakers for my computer.  And those would take up too much space.  Thanks for the input!
