New CPU, re install windows?

I just got a free upgrade from a friend from a Pentium g2020 (dual core) to a i5 3570k. Should i re-install windows? Windows seems to work just fine, but is there something im missing?

i duno if there are drivers for the cpu maybe you can update those? i doubt it tho.

You should be fine, just install it and be careful with the old one. If something goes wrong then you might need to reinstall windows.

no, you don't. there's no drivers for the CPU.

Like Dougnut112 said, you should be fine. But please check if there are drivers for that CPU. And please keep your old CPU if something fails or you run into problems.

cpus don't have drivers, chipsets do, aslong as you don't change chipset(board) you're fine

Thanks guys! It is running nice and fast now so im pretty happy haha.

CPU as any other component in Windows PC do have drivers, but they are pretty much generic and universal.

That is technically correct answer, but yes, in his case, there is no need for reinstall.
