So my CPU went on my main PC, and it is an AM3+ Motherboard. Which CPU should I get to replace it?
Should I go with the lower clocked 8-Core FX-8120? Or the Higher clocked FX-6200?
Are the extra 2 cores worth losing 1GHz? Is having an 8 core CPU overrated, or wirth it?
They are around the same price.
The problem is, I'm going to have to cut back on PC spending for a while, so I need something that will last around a year or so, like my athlon x3 did. (unlocked to Phenom x4). Not just a dummy upgrade.
If you can find one, get a Phenom II X6. Supposedly the old Phenom II's are better than the new Bulldozers.
8 cores, over clock it, bulldozer has been known to overclock by 2GHz so you should be good with that
I have a hyper 212 evo. with two 133CFM fans. would that keep it cool enough?
how do you keep killing your CPUs? I've been pumping1.49v through all mine and they still aren't dead
what do you mean, keep killing? Ive only had one CPU die during my lifetime. lol.
Im not the one that pumped my CPU to 2.0+ Volts and fried it. :P It just started locking up and didnt work anymore. tried my friends phenom 2 x4, and it worked.
oh yeah, it was the mobo that died, and hey in my defense I didn't know what the hell I was doing, how was I supposed to know flashing red numbers and warning signs were bad
and
it was only +1 volt not 2
So probably just going to go with the 8 core. :P Thanks guys.
Update: I splurged on myself, and got the FX-8150. I hope that I am pleased with its performance.
Well the 8150 is supposed to be about the same performance as the 2500K, so it should be pretty nice.
i would go with the older 6 core like a 1090t its faster then the new bulldozer!!
MASSKILLA!!! get on steam yo
For the most part that's true. Since the Phenom II X4 965 tears through the FX-4100 and FX-4170
