New cpu came with ok heatsink would water cooled be better than stock?

Ok here's the CPU:  AMD FX-4130 Zambezi 3.8GHz Socket AM3+ Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4130FRGUBOX

Here's the new heat sink:  ARCTIC Alpine 64 GT Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets, 80mm PWM Fan at 22dBA

Should I use the stock or should I use the water cooled heat sink for overclocking?

if you have to ask i don't think you should be overclocking

I thought this community was about helping each other, you had to ask questions and learn at some point, please only leave helpful and respectable comments.

I don't understqnd. You got the cpu listed with the stock cooler? So what is your question, should you buy a closed watercooling kit? Only if you run into overclock limits due to temps. Even then you should buy high end air instead of closed water kit.

that cooler isn't a stock cooler, it's actually worse, you should pick up something like a hyper 212 just so the thing doesn't fry (look at the reviews on the newegg page and think that the cpu shouldn't go above ~62 degrees)

from what i've heard (maybe someone can correct me) 4100's don't actually get very hot, i would look into a dark knight night hawk for overclocking, or one of the higher end phantecs/nactua's that get reccomended alot that i can't remember the exact names of

well that stock cpu cooler is fine for stock speeds and a little overclocking but its going to be loud

the ARCTIC Alpine 64 GT is a small upgrade cooling wise but will be quite compared to stock amd cooler Its a its a $7 cpu cooler dont expect much.

closed loop will be fine to overclock a lot. You should give us a budget. i would spend less  then 30bucks on  a cpu cooler.

it's really 72 degrees, and if OP is gonna OC, he should for sure get a aftermarket heatsink.4100 is only 4 cores, so a hyper 212 should be good enough for about .5 ghz or so.

beware though, the paste on the AMD stock coolers is really, really sticky. make sure to twist the heatsink while pulling it off.

well a CM hyper 212 evo is not good enough for extremer overclockings, you can do some small overclocks with it, but it isn´t much better then a stock cooler at all, in my opinnion. it will keep the cpu more cool then a stock cooler, but not much. if he realy want to go into extreme overclockings 4.5+ GHZ then i would recommend a Phanteks PH-TC14PE or a corsair H80i LC cooler. or H100i.

i know the FX4130 only contains 4 cores in the chip, but it will still need a good cooling wenn overclocked, and hugh workloads.. i run my FX8350 on stock 4.2GHZ with the stock cooler, and at idle browsing stuff, its fine, but thease warmer days wenn i trow a bit of workload on my cpu, it gets quick upto 45+ degrees.. and ofc very loud. if i have enough money i will trow a H100i push pull wenn fits.. in my system ☺

If you thinking of water cooling and just can't get it out of your head pick up a corsair h110 (140x280mm rad) you can't go wrong... unless it doesn't fit your case. But I wouldn't recommend anything smaller then a 120x240mm rad because a decent air cooler will keep up no problem with a single 120x120mm rad. Alot of people don't like closed loop kits but I threw some noctua fans on the h110 and I love it, silent, clean looking, cool, and very easy to install (drilled my own 2 holes in the case because I didn't like NZXTs holes). 0 complaints here... for once... except for that arrogant if you don't know don't try remark, people have to learn somehow, and we are here to help!
