Hello everyone, I've been following this site and forum for awhile now learning all I can for my new computer build. I'll be using it for online sim racing on iRacing, com and other games and internet. I hope that I can get some feedback on this build. I picked parts that would future-proof my new computer as best as I could.
Hey Toast, I debated the SSD thing, but I decided on 2tb HDD for more storage. The slower startup time doesn't bother me. I am still open to it, heck my ten year old seagate 32gig HDD never got full yet, so maybe 128 gig SSD might work.
Thing is, SSD's aren't just for startup, they're for everything. Storage is always going to be a bottleneck. Game maps will load faster, applications will load faster, and windows will boot faster. SSD's are a lot better than HDD's.
Back the 2tb down to a 1tb and grab a 120 GB Samsung 840 Series SSD. Great SSD. I love mine.
Hey Toast, I went to Staples this morning for a cad6 cable and found this on sale. Kingston hyperx 3K 120gig for $99.99 with the mounting bracket, so I picked it up. That was a nice score to start the day. Thanks for the help.
I'm still working on my parts list. I dropped my 1250watt power supply to a 1050watt Seasonic which is SLI and Xfire ready, just in case. I will get a smaller HDD like you suggested.
Thank you anarmypig and Toast for your suggestions. I ordered the parts last night, this should be a fun build. I've been using my current computer since I build it in 2000-2002 in there somewhere. The video card is a geforce2 MX 100/200, the 680 is going to be a nice upgrade.
Thanks again and thank you Teksyndicate for a great website.
