i've just finished up a new build and ive run into an issue i havent had before.
i went to boot up and i got zero response from the psu/fans/mobo. ive double and triple checked the connections and they seem to be in order
a friend of mine had had a similar issue and it turned out he had forgotten to connect the 8pin. but even in his case, the fans responded to powering on. im getting nothing
im guessing the PSU is completely bunk?
Try jumping the psu to see if it turns on, it could also be a bad motherboard not allowing the psu to turn on.
sorry i should add that i wasnt intending to boot up as my gpu hasnt arrived yet.
i fumbled a screwdriver as i was installing the heatsink and dropped it on the CPU. it caused a small dent / scratch. my intention was to check what effect the damage could have had on the CPU temps but could that have killed off the CPU and be causing my current issue?
I've delidded CPUs(old stuff, dw), and the IHSs are pretty thick. If the shock was big enough, I wouldn't be surprised if the die itself shattered. However, CPUs are actually relatively durable, and I don't think that would really be the problem.
just want to thank you guys for the responses. watched JJ do a build on youtube with my exact board and realized how silly of a mistake i made. so silly im too embarrassed to admit to it at the moment
GPU gets here tommorow and i hope the screw driver incident is a minor thing. thanks again ill keep you guys posted
I hope you didn't forget to plug in the 24-pin power connector ;D
