Hey, wasn't sure where to post this but...
I just got a new PC built from pcspecialist.co.uk
When I did the system rating on Windows 7 it froze and then restarted, I didn't think much of it
but now when using after effects when I RAM preview it freezes and then restarts. It doesn't happen all the time but enough to make me think there is a problem. (4-5 times within about an hour)
I have Nvidia GTX 670 and Intel i7 3770 CPU with 32gb Kingston Hyperbeast RAM
Quite upset that this is happening as I thought spending so much money would enable me to have a computer that works smooth without crashing. Not even my 2008 mac did that and it has a 256gb graphic card.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Someone said it might be because I have my operating system on a SSD and creative suite installed on there too. Would that be an issue?
Thanks!
It won't have anything to do with where creative suite is installed.
You can try pulling the RAM out and putting it back it, if it's in loose it might be causing the problem.
Try downloadong something like coretemp to check what temperature the CPU is running at, it could be over heating if the heatsink wasn't installed properly.
I wouldn't know how to take the RAM out and put it back in. I don't really know anything about parts and stuff.
I got coretemp, here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I am RAM previewing in AE.

The load sometimes goes to 100% for a second and the highest my GPU went up to was 65 degrees.
Is there anything over heating?
Cheers for the reply
Ok dude, You pull the tabs off of the sides of the ram, pull out the ram, put ram back in, push in tabs. Perhaps you can watch a tek syndicate build a pc video.
Will it that a go, cheers!
Are those temperatures okay? In the screenshot.
Try updating your bios. That's what my problem was.
If this is a new pc that was just purchased take it back. They must have some kind of warranty on new builds. I wouldn't mess with it too much. Let the builder deal with it that's what you paid for.
What is updating your bios? How would I go about doing that?
Did your PC freeze like mine?
I'll get in touch with pcspecialist about it.
Cheers for the suggestion Xkr1ptikX !
It's still happening and now it froze when starting up AE on the initalizing ray traced 3D... Could it be an OpenGL problem?
Can anyone help me with why this is happening? Also, how do I update my bios?
