Just buy a 840 evo or 850 evo. Samsung drives are not that expensive.
What about the Samsung 850 PRO ?
850 pro is more durable, has constant speed, evo have slc buffer, once buffer used it slows down (matters if you transfer a lot of data all the time :)Pro series use mlc nand (v -nand in 850 series) ,have longer warranty and endurance and price of course.I wouldn`t buy 840 evo after all the issues with firmware, the problem "seems" to be solved. I you want to go for samsung, go for 850 series.
I've been using Mushkin drives and they have been treating me well. I have a Chronos 480 and two Reactor 960s at the moment.
Pro is overkill for most users its primary advantage over the Evo is durability. I'd just stick with the Evo
I live in a small town and dont have much options I was considering the intel because it was cheaper and I really don
t like the Samsung brand.... but jumped from 130 USD to 160 USD for no fucking reason (and 130 was not on sell) and I found a 850 Pro Samsung for 150 USD and if its better than the intel I am really considering to buy it tomorrow....
I dont care about games loading times (and most of the games I like to play are not realistic eye candy) so I will use it manly for video rendering and photography (adobe after effects , premier , Lightroom , Photoshop)
I can also cheep out with :
240GB Kingston X fury 121 USD
240GB Kingston X saveg 120 USD
240GB GEIL zenith 121 USD
240GB SanDisk Plus 97 USD
?
In your case 850 pro might be good idea, it has higher write endurance and doesnt slow down writes like evo when slc buffer is full.More writes will be useful, of course it all depends on the amount of data you plan to write to disk daily.
I've seen 512GB 850 EVO drives for $150 on sale. If you can spare the $20 and can statch one of those deals, you'll be golden.
Avoid Kingston, They were pulling shenanigans with sawpping out the memory on the later ones so they were very slow after the reviews came back great on the early ones. Basically selling specs that did not exist.
Mushkin is assembled in the US, if you care, and offers good speeds. AAAWave just emailed me today saying that the Striker 240GB is $104.00.
I will buy the Samsung 256 GB PRO its just 15 USD more then the EVO .
Thanks to all for the suggestions and advices ! Cheers...
I swear you are wrong. I read that the evo is supposed to be the best bang for the buck. Durability is at 8 years last I checked in Crystal Disk. I'll do more research before making an ass of myself further.

official specs, evo has half the warranty, shorter expected life, and half TBW of pro (if we compare same capacity ssds), and if you can get pro for 15 bucks more then why not, once it is no longer needed it can end up in a laptop and last for years (in theory;) .
It`s for editing so a lot of temporary data is written to disk and deleted,temp/cache files. In that case i would say that endurance would be more beneficial .
Yes I have backups but I like readability it keeps good cost for resale and i can always drop it in another machine after 2-3 years of work when i hope we all will have 2-3-4 TB of SSD and a crazy fast SSD in the PCI-express ...................
(I will feel nostalgic about the old school HDD-disk but you never know even TAPE Disk are used today cheapest storage for the buck!)
