Networking help

HI,

I just stared working for school and first project that i got is rewire all switches, because it's a mess. There is about 8 switches and a server. Wires are connected to 18 class rooms in some of them there is about 24 PC plus teachers pc(which) is connected to different switch.

Is there a good program where i can draw all the connection so it's easier in the future repairing it?

I already looked at MS Viso and some people said that it's not the best program. Any suggestions??

If it's just for drawing anything will do really, even Google Draw, but if it is for creating a graphical representation of the logic and the functions etc, and even including some of the management tools, try VYM (view your mind). I use VYM to chart network connections, because it's easy to change something or to find a quick solution if a functional block in the network has to be changed radically etc... it's just drag and drop, plus you can include links to apps or html based managing pages for quick access to particular functionalities, like user access, firewall management, etc...

hmmm i'll try it, but i think i'll just use Edraw network ( http://www.edrawsoft.com/Network-Diagrams.php )

any experience with EDraw??

wow, that's a windows only program, can't say I have, I 'm sorry, I haven't encountered any Windows networking environments since 2003, I was obviously thinking GNU/Linux in relation to networking... I have to admit that I have no clue about Windows programs other than games, Adobe Lightroom, Office, Firefox, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Nod32 and ZoneAlarm. The one time I have to use Windows in relation to networking is when a customer has bought a really cheap crappy printer or all-in-one and needs to share that over the network because the manufacturer has a marketing strategy that includes running a custom linux arrangement on the printer processor that allows him to exclude performance computing platform compatibility for their products lol...

agree setting up network with linux is in some case easyer but here is all windows based because of the dreamspark.

I just want that other people will understand the picture because I will be here only 10 weeks.
