So this is my situation, and I do not know much about networks at the moment. My house has two rj11 ports (I'm pretty sure). One in the kitchen and one in my room which is around 25 metres from the kitchen. I've been using wireless connection for about 2 years now and got myself back into gaming and usually nobody games on wireless. The kitchen port is the master port if that is what it is called where that is where the modem and wireless router sits and I do not want to use metres of rj45 cable into my room. Now I am pretty sure that I cannot get internet connection from the port from my room to my computer directly. Another option is powerline but I want that to be my last resort and was wondering how to get the port from my room working. I'm pretty sure it is wired correctly since the house is fairly new (built in 2011) and was hoping for some help and suggestions. I was thinking of buying another router to put in my room and connect that to my computer but thought maybe I should get advice before I throw $50 into something that won't even work. Any helpful advice or suggestions are appreciated.
Check the wiring or call someone who can come and check your wiring. Pull the jack out of the wall to see if wire is actually connected to it. I've seen jacks have nothing connected, so that may be your issue with the jack in your bedroom.
Yeah, I've opened it up and check. Forgot to take the photos but it is definitely wired. I just don't know what to do after that, like do I buy another router and plug it in or buy a better network cable etc. This part is where I'm lost.
Normally you don't connect the modem to anything but the master port of ADSL phone lines. This is usually because the extension ports are usually not fully wired. ADSL has 6 wires (of which 2 are for testing from the last I was told) whilst only 2 are required for voice, thus the extensions are only wired with 2 and not 4.
EDIT: Just to Note, if you have one of the newer faceplates on the master socket with a micro filter built in (Faceplate has the 2 ports one RJ11 and the other wider one) then the other sockets will NOT be capable of carrying the modem signals.

I question what you mean by this. What are you trying to achieve? If you are on about modems, you can not run two modems without using two separate ISPs. Using a wireless bridge to the main router may improve your performance, but not if it is only you.
The best option in terms of latency and speed is to connect directly using a wire or powerline.
your best bet would be to rewire the house - or just buy a good wireless router :: and hope there is no brick or tile between your kitchen and you.
If you use power you are leaving an open network connection not only to your room but your neighbors
(kinda weird for a house built in 2011 to only have a usable phone line in the kitchen)
