I just tried to reformat my custom built computer and when I started it up i couldn't connect to the internet (wired). I looked all over the internet and asked buddies of mine and they say i need a driver to get it to work but I can't find the right one? Any help???? (Note: the internet worked fine before i did this)
-Windows 7
-intel Core i5-3570k
-asustek p8z77-v lk
You'll have to install the ethernet driver for the adapter to be recognized.
If you have the Disc that came with your motherboard, load the disc and run the setup to install the network ethernet adapter (likely "realtek")
If you do not have the disc you will need another computer to access the website of the manufacturer that made your motherboard. Go to their support/download page. Find your motherboard model. Then navigate to the driver downloads for that specific motherboard.
Here you will find what you need to ensure your motherboard will cooperate and operate correctly with your newly reformatted system. You will have to download them to this different computer and transfer them to the reformatted via a USB flash drive. Install the ethernet driver as well as the chipset drivers and anything else you deem necessary to install.

choose your OS, the driver is under the "LAN" heading.
edit 2 - Version 5.796&7.61 Realtek Driver. Click on the second Green "Global" link to download the .zip file that is the driver.
You'll need to install the most recent chipset, audio, and usb drivers as well. so be sure to download them.
best of luck.
No problem.
This will always work for you in the future. Just Google your Motherboard Model Number "drivers" and you will find the support page. But remember to keep your mobo discs in a certain location so you can just pop in the disc and run the setup to get to the internet and then download the most current chipset drives etc. for your comp.
Glad it did!
