Just found out that there is a project to make N900 successor and wanted to share this to the community.

Neo900

  • free, unlocked bootloader
  • combined GPS and GLONASS navigation system
  • stereo line-in
  • additional connection pads for your own or third party hardware
  • Battery hot-swap on the fly, without turning off the phone!
  • LTE
  • IrDA and Consumer IR
  • Lots of sensors
  • Neo900 will support all operating systems available for GTA04 (QtMoko, SHR, Debian, Replicant, ...) and should serve as a great platform for porting systems like Maemo, Ubuntu or Firefox OS - or even for writing your own one!
  • FLOSS stack and privacy
    -Neo900 can be used with 100% Free Software stack. Forget about spying and influences of intelligence agencies. If you turn off GSM modem from the software, you can be sure it's really turned off.

ATM the only reason why i am not backing this project is that its too expensive for me.

If that is the design I will never buy one, The sliding keyboard is dead. (to me at least) replaced by swipe to text. The last phone I owned that had sliding keyboard shut off every time you closed the keyboard. Had it replaced and the new one did the same thing.
