Needing help

Hi yeah, this is my first build and could use all the help i can get, would definitely appreciate any and all help that i get.

well this pc is going to be used mainly for gaming, live in the US and would like to stay around the price range of $1000 - $1500 this including the price of a monitor and operating system

so far this is what I've put together

any thoughts?

Looks pretty good overall. A couple little tweaks and it should be good to go:

  • The MSI Z97-G55 SLI is out of stock, the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H appears to be a comparable board for a similar price.
  • You can get RAM that's just as fast and a little cheaper, like Crucial Ballistix.
  • An R9 290X is a little cheaper than a GTX 970. Performance-wise they are pretty much equivalent, they'290X is just a little hotter. Up to you on whether you want to spend a little less or or run a little cooler.

What are you thinking for peripherals?

Thanks for the tips, definitely going to switch out the board and look into the ram. as to the gtx 970 i'm biased towards Nvidia on this one.

As for the mouse and keyboard I don't really know, but for the monitor i'm thinking an acer h236hlbid for the time being and eventually get a surround system with those.

That bezel is pretty thin so the monitor should work well for a multi-monitor setup.

Unfortunately I can't give much advice on mice since it's mostly user preference and things like hand size. I know the Mionix mice are pretty well regarded and they happen to be on Massdrop right now. Any of the Logitech G- series mice are well regarded as well. I personally use a Corsair M65 and like it quite a bit. I have fairly large hands and it fits pretty good.

Keyboards are kinda the same. If you're going the mechanical route I'd just figure out what key you like and finding something from a reputable brand. Cooler Master used to make a key sampler, but it appears it's not available in North America anymore.

yeah, i've been looking into the Logitech mice but the one i keep getting dragged to is the R.A.T. series mice. As for keyboards the corsair ones look amazing and am thinking to going with mechanical.

I love the way the monitor looks, the bezel should work great. im just concerned with how well its going to work in a surround system considering that a vesa mount of sorts cant be attaches to the system, as well as how good of a monitor it is.
